Signs the weather has won
Roofs that face the Sound wear unevenly, so we look at each slope on its own. Storm patterns tracked by the National Weather Service Seattle office explain why the windward side usually goes first.
1
Tabs keep blowing off the same side
If you are picking up shingles from the yard after every storm, the seal strips on that slope have given up. Gluing a few back down buys a season at most; the rest of the slope is usually just as loose.
2
Flashing is rusted or stained
Orange streaks below chimneys, vents, or wall joints mean the old metal is corroding. On a reroof we replace it with coated or aluminum flashing rather than reusing what is there.
3
Moss has lifted the shingle edges
On shaded hillside lots, thick moss wedges under the shingle edges and holds water against the nails. Once edges are curled and brittle across the slope, cleaning will not flatten them again.

What we change for a wind-and-water roof
These upgrades show up as separate lines on the estimate, so you can see what each one costs:
Wind-rated shingles: lines with a higher wind rating, installed with the maker’s high-wind nailing pattern
Corrosion-resistant metal: new drip edge, step flashing, and vent flashing in coated steel or aluminum
Sealed eaves and rakes: self-sealing membrane and starter strip along every edge where wind gets under first
Low-profile ridge vent: airflow without tall vents that interrupt the roof line from the street or the view side
For non-urgent inspections or planned work, see roof inspection & estimate or contact us to schedule at a time that works for you.
Other roofs and repairs nearby
If the roof only has one bad spot, a targeted shingle repair may be enough, and our local roof repair team can look at it first. Homeowners who want something longer-lasting on the windward side sometimes switch materials; we also quote metal roof installation here and can price both side by side.

How a reroof here runs
Slope-by-slope inspection
We photograph each face of the roof, check the deck from the attic, and note which sides take the most weather.
Tear-off and dry-in
Old layers come off one section at a time, soft boards are replaced, and membrane and underlayment go down before we leave each day.
New roof and cleanup
Shingles, flashing, and ridge go on, the yard and driveway get a magnet sweep, and you get photos of the work that is now covered.
Warranty on the new roof
The shingle maker covers the product, up to 30 years on eligible lines, and wind coverage depends on the line and nailing used. Our crew backs the labor for 5 years on qualifying work. Both are written on your estimate.
5
Year labor warranty
30
Year material warranty
